Tigers, tigers everywhere!

There’s a saying in Bandhavgarh that goes, “In any other Park, you are lucky if you see a tiger. In Bandhavgarh, you are unlucky if you don't see (at least) one." This video of a male cub was shot last March.

Touchdown Jabalpur! You’ll be greeted at the Airport by our representative and transferred to Bandhavgarh, one of the best places in India to spot tigers! The journey takes about 3 hours (180 kms) by road, with beautiful views of the reserve’s forests along the way. So, keep your cameras ready to click some great photos.

Then, check-in and unwind at the Kings Lodge, a luxury lodge in the middle of the wilderness, where you’ll be staying for the next four days.

Note: In case you need to withdraw cash, recharge your mobile phones or buy anything, please make sure that it is done in Jabalpur, before we leave for Bandhavgarh.

Later: lunch at the hotel, where you’ll get to meet and greet your crew of travellers and photographers.

In the evening: you’ll have an orientation session on photography with your trip leader and also learn about the Park, its zones, the wildlife and safari timings.

Get ready for an early start from today!

After a refreshing cup of tea, we’ll have a briefing session and then head off on our first safari in the National Park!

Bandhavgarh has one of the highest densities of tigers in the world. So, it isn’t unusual to spot some of them, especially during the month of December. The dry vegetation during this period makes it one of the best times to see tigers hunting, as deers venture out into the open in search of grazing fields.

Arm yourself with your cameras, ready to capture cheetal, sambhar and other herbivores grazing. And if you’re lucky on your very first safari, you might hear screeches and alarm calls from deers and monkeys - signs that indicate a Royal Bengal Tiger isn’t far away!

We’ll have breakfast during the safari.

Post lunch: another safari in the evening. Get ready to spot and capture on camera more of the wildlife in Bandhavgarh - sloth bears, leopards, jungle cats, barking deer, porcupines and many birds and mammals.

After the safari, we’ll have a session on photography and post processing, where each of the travellers will share their work for the day, and discuss insights and tips on how it can be improved.

Note: the park is divided into three main zones, with entry to each of them restricted to around 20 safari vehicles at any point in time. We’ll be having a morning and evening safari for the next two days, with each safari inside a specific zone.
We’ll have safaris in the morning and evening for the next two days, as we explore the important zones of Bandhavgarh: Tala, Magadhi and Khitauli.

Our safaris will be planned based upon data of current tiger sightings, with the help of inputs from our local experts and naturalists.

After both the safaris, we’ll again have a photography & processing session to share and discuss our work in the evening.
We’ll start the day with a morning safari, stopping in between to capture through the lens the different flora and fauna in the park.

Later: a safari in the afternoon post lunch. We’ll return to our lodge at sunset.

While on safaris, if we are in Zone 1, we may make a stop to visit the famous Shesh Shaiya, a 65 feet reclining idol of Lord Vishnu. It is located at the foot of the  gorgeous ruins of the Bandhavgarh Fort, that dates back to almost 2000 years! Legend has it that Lord Ram gifted this hillock to his brother Laxman, after the war in Lanka was won (Note: permission to visit the fort is at the discretion of the Forest Department).

After both the safaris, we’ll return to our hotel at sunset.
As unfair as it sounds, all good things must come to an end. After a safari in the morning (if we’re lucky, we’ll spot a few more tigers), you’ll be driven to the Jabalpur or Katni city railway station/ airport to head home.

Superb Choice!
