Touchdown Chandigarh! We’ll start our journey here with a 7 hour drive up through the lower reaches of the Himalayas, until we reach Rampur, the capital of the former Bushair kingdom.

We’ll check-in, unwind, get to know our fellow travellers and have dinner at the fabulous Nau Nabh Heritage Hotel.
This morning, we’ll have breakfast at the hotel and make our way towards Sangla, a picturesque valley studded with forested slopes and orchards surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Stroll through the valley for some spectacular views straight out of a postcard (the perfect place to take selfies). Then, walk around the Kamru Fort, an ancient monument in a locality where time seems to have frozen, with buildings still having a rustic look and people following customs of yore.

Then
: it’s time to taste some Kinnauri apples! Reputed for producing some of the best apples in the world, shopping at the Sangla market for these fresh fruits is something you wouldn’t want to miss.

In the evening: experience the mountain life in comfort. You will be staying in luxury tents at Kinner Camp, breathing in the fresh air and gazing at the starry Himalayan sky.
Today, we’ll start our ascent towards the Spiti valley. The 4 hour journey is filled with fascinating views, as we drive through narrow gorges with mountains and forested slopes stretching till the horizon. Enter the valley via the famous bridge at Khab and then zig-zag your way up the spectacular Ka Zigs to make your way towards Nako, where we’ll stay in a camp.

Later: a walk to the Nako lake, where you’ll be able to see large flocks of birds under the twilight. We’ll then visit the Nako monastery, a complex of four beautiful Buddhist temples on the shores of the lake.
After breakfast, we’ll head towards Kaza, the main city and an ideal place for a base camp to trek, mountaineer or tour other parts of the Spiti Valley. Don’t forget to check out the Tangyud Monastery - a beautiful 14th century temple recently renovated, built like a fortified castle in a canyon overlooking the town.

On our route
: We’ll visit the 1000-year-old monasteries in the villages of Tabo and Dhankar.
In the evening: It’s time to relax after our long drive. We’ll stay at Sakya Abode, built in the  traditional Himalayan style.
Post breakfast, get ready for a whole day of driving, walking and taking in the sights of the villages at higher altitudes in Spiti.

The places that we’ll visit during this trip include: Langza, where you’ll get to see the famous golden statue of Buddha, the highest post office in the world at Hikkim and then we’ll try to spot the rare Himalayan Eagles at the village of Komik. You’ll also get a chance to try your hand at making some local Spitian delicacies like Thukpa and Thenduk.
We’ll start this day early, heading to the famous Key monastery for an hour of peace and prayer. Built on a plateau surrounded by mountains, this monastery provides beautiful views of the Spiti river and the valley beyond.

Here, learn how to make butter tea from the Lama in charge of the kitchen and interact with the friendly monks at the monastery.

In the afternoon, witness a rare spectacle - a performance by the Buzhens, a tantric cult from the Himalayas that is almost extinct. Their songs, music and sword dance will put you under a trance; there are only 12 people left in Spiti who still perform these feats!
Today, you’ll be free time to explore the valley on your own. Stroll through the local markets of Kaza, where you’ll get shawls, ceramic items and woolen clothes of fine quality. And don’t forget to try out some of the home-brewed drinks such as the chang and arkh that are made from barley.

In the evening: get ready for some stargazing! Located at a very high altitude with barely any light pollution, the skies in Spiti are a work of art, lit up by millions of stars that make it look straight out of a fairytale. And you’ll also be able to spot the Milky Way galaxy, glowing bright in the star-studded sky.
Today, we’ll drive to Chandra Taal (the moon lake) which is named so because of its crescent shape. On your way, stop and stretch your legs at Kuzum La, a 4200 meter high pass that is snowed in 8 months of the year.

At Chandra Taal: Walk around the perimeter of the lake to get spectacular views and photographs of the massive glaciers around it. We’ll camp near the lake and this evening, gathered around a bonfire, you’ll again be treated to a view of the Milky Way and the star-studded sky along the shores.
This morning, get ready for a journey to Manali (approx. 4 hours 20 minutes). We’ll pass through picturesque terrains, driving past glaciers, streams, towering mountains and rugged landscapes until we reach Snow Peak Retreat. Check-in and unwind. In the afternoon, you will have free time to explore Manali.

Recommended: if you’re up for some adventure, go skiing with professionals on the vast stretch of slopes in the valley. You also have plenty of other adventure activities to choose from, such as paragliding, rock climbing and hiking
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. Today, we’ll drive back to Chandigarh where we’ll reach the end of our adventure.
