Touchdown Cairo!
You will be greeted at Cairo International Airport in the arrival hall by a local representative who will welcome you to Egypt. Then, sit back and take in the view of the capital as you’re driven in a private air-conditioned coach to your hotel. Check-in and unwind.
In the evening: attend Giza’s famous Light and Sound Show (18:30 PM). Watch as the immense pyramids are illuminated by colourful beams of light as you hear and see the story of Egypt unfold. (Note: it will get a little chilly in the evening, so don’t forget to take a warm jacket or wrap-around with you.)
We’ll celebrate our first night in Egypt with a welcome banquet at the Sun Z restaurant.
Today is that special once-in-a-lifetime experience you’ve been daydreaming about for years.
After tucking into the breakfast buffet at the hotel (8:00 AM), head out with your local guide to see  two wonders of the Ancient World that have drawn visitors for millennia: the enigmatic Sphinx, and the iconic Great Pyramids. At the Pyramid of Cheops, you can climb inside and upwards to the King’s Chamber. Please note: this is a challenging climb (so make sure you’re wearing sneakers) but it’s worth it - how many people do you know who can claim they have climbed into an Egyptian pyramid?
Next, we’ll stop by a papyrus institute to see how this unique paper is made, as well as perfume shops.
Lunch: will be served at Felfela restaurant.
Next: we’ll visit the Egyptian Museum. Here you will see huge sarcophaguses made entirely of gold, statues and priceless treasures including the Golden Mask of Tutankhamen. You will also be able to enter the Mummies Room that contains mummies of kings and other royal family members.
After time to shop in Khan el-Khalili, we’ll wind up the day with dinner at the Naguib Mahfouz restaurant.
It’s an early start to the day. After breakfast, you will be driven to the Cairo domestic airport for your flight to Aswan (flight duration 1.5 hours).
After landing, explore the temple of Philae, and then, climbing into a felucca, a graceful long wooden sailing boat, cruise around Elephantine island, see the beautiful Botanical Garden, and then The Mausoleum of Aga Khan. You’ll have a lunch box to tuck into en route.
Around 5:00 PM, board the Nile cruiser, your home for the next couple of days. Settle into your room, enjoying the view of the riverbanks from the full-length windows in your room. You’re free to unwind in your cabins before we meet again for dinner.
Today, we will visit the awe-inspiring Abu Simbel. We’ll head out quite early (4 A.M.) in an air-conditioned mini-bus with an Egyptologist as our guide. Our drive will take around 3.30 hours, so catch up on some sleep on the way.
When we arrive, you’ll see why Abu Simbel is said to rival the Pyramids for grandeur. To put the sheer size in perspective for you - the thousands of travellers who take selfies in front of the Ramses II statues barely reach the top of the statues’ great toes. It’s an incredible sight.
Then, it’s back to the cruiser (stopping to visit the High Dam) for lunch.
We will sail to Kom Ombo to visit an unusual double temple dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek as well as the falcon god Horus. Don't miss the mummified crocodiles (yep, really).
Onwards to Edfu we will dock for the night.
This morning, we will head out to visit a temple dedicated to the god Horus. We’ll then lunch on board the cruiser, and spend the rest of the day sailing, first to Esna and then on to Luxor where we will dock for the night. Recommended: head out for a night on the town! Luxor offers a wide range of entertaining events, from disco to belly dancing, costume festivals to karaoke shows.
Optional Activity: Hot Air Balloon Ride Over Luxor
You’ll be picked up quite early in the morning and driven to your balloon boarding point. You will climb into the basket and slowly rise into the sky as the sun peeps over the horizon. Then, enjoy the thrilling birds-eye view as the sun illuminates famous ancient temples and mountains on one side and the glittering Nile on the other. After your thrilling ride, you will be driven back to the cruiser for breakfast. (Please note that this activity is dependent on suitable weather conditions)
After breakfast, the entire group will disembark to explore the West Bank. We’ll swing by the Colossi of Memnon, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the only woman to rule as pharaoh and the Valley of the Kings, where the who’s who of Ancient Egypt have been buried.
Exploring the royal tombs really is to be in another time, another place. The hieroglyphic murals that decorate the walls, in bright yellow, rust red and azure blue, are as beautiful and expressive as when they were first painted. This really is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Lunch at a local restaurant and then drive to the hotel.
Next up: Karnak and Luxor, Egypt's greatest temple complexes, made up of countless ruins, all  built by successive pharaohs over 2,000 years. We’ll have dinner at a local restaurant afterwards.
Catch your flight to Cairo from the Luxor airport this morning, and upon arrival head to your hotel for lunch.
You’ll then be driven to the City Stars Mall, one of the largest in Cairo, where you can shop for mementos for friends and family.
In the evening: we’ll celebrate our time in Egypt at our farewell dinner.
You’ll be driven to the airport to catch your flight home.
